There\’s a lot of risk involved with forward basing as Greeks in general. First there is the villager risk…. will the villagers run into some stray animal (avoidable) or enemy unit by accident. If you get found out too early you can be in a lot of trouble. Setting up your base at home leaves a lot more options open to you, you\’re not forced into attacking non-stop where-as a forward base pretty much declares that you must go heavily with military units because if you don\’t you\’ll lose a lot of resources once your forward is beaten back. There are a lot more risks to forward basing as Greeks than there are rewards, in general their offensive units are fast enough that having a forward base right off the start isn\’t a huge benefit.
