Alright I’m very close to a number of people saying they would be willing to subscribe to the game clinic/review premium access, so I will be going forward with it and will start within the next week. Sorry for the lack of updates on recorded games, but I am just waiting until after the MFO tournament is completed before I post any more recorded games (sunday will be a likely time that I put them up). I just got called in to work so I can’t post the details of the premium service just yet, I’ll get back to you later today.

I plan on sticking with AoM for a long while. I still enjoy the game and most of my posts in the last few days were mostly out of frustration and anger. Since the MFO and AoMH tournaments are going to ban the use of the hunting exploit I feel there will be less and less abusers of this trick in rated and therefore it will still be fun for me to play at a competitive level.
I’ve looked into getting banners and my site is being reviewed (it’s been denied in the past by other places), so we’ll see how that goes. Beyond that my brother gave me a great idea and I would like your input on this. The main site itself is to remain free, but I plan on creating a premium users type of thing. The basis around it would be that I would give complete reviews of several of my games per month to people who subscribe to this. Basically it would give you insight into what I was thinking when playing a specific game, basically how I come up with the strategies and tactics that I do come up with, and the whys and hows. Now this is not something I would be willing to do for free as it could end up being a tremendous amount of work for me and doing so without any payoff when I could be doing other things just doesn’t make sense to me, so instead if I can make enough money to make this fly, I would be able to work a little bit less at my job and therefore have more time available to put these extensive reviews together.
The plan is to make it a small monthly cost with discounts for subscribing for multiple months (due to the fact paypal takes away something like 50 cents/transaction on me). Payments would of course be made through paypal but if you have other suggestions that involve an easy method of payment that you would rather arrange with me then I’m willing to listen. Actual prices haven’t been thought up yet but I’m guessing somewhere in the 3$ per month range with discounts for subscribing for multiple months at a time. I will do a minimum of 3 reviews of either spotlight games, or games that people request to be reviewed. On top of this I will do a minimum of 2 game clinics/month for subscribers which will be randomly drawn. These will be full game clinics and will be sent out to everyone else who is a subscriber, because they can be helpful to everyone in most cases. As the amount of subscribers increases I will do more reviews of games and more clinics for the people who subscribe.
for the time being, if you are interested in this idea and think you would be willing to subscribe to this then please either email me, this will give me a rough idea of how many subscribers I will be dealing with and how many reviews and clinics I will be able to perform. If I don’t get enough response then I will have to scratch the idea, but if the response is good enough then you could expect me to start as early as next month.
If you have any comments or suggestions on this idea then please feel free to let me know and I’ll see what makes sense to impliment.

I’m not sure if I’m going to continue playing this game, it’s become rather gay with the hunting deletion shit. It’s going to take over all the tournaments which will ruin this game for competitive players.
If I do decide to go on I’m not even sure I will continue with this site as it is a lot of work with no real pay-off in the end for me. Heck I get ppl asking for help and when I say I don’t have time to help everyone for free they start to bitch and complain that I’m selfish… apperently this site wasn’t enough for some people. Anyways not too sure at the moment what will happen but I’ll keep u posted.

I posted something like 10 new 1v1 games, most of them are Oranos but you’ll find one in Set, 2 in Isis, and one under Hades. Nothing really spotlight material but there is something to be learned in a few of the games I think.

However my uploading thingy doesn’t seem to want to work properly right now for some reason, so you’ll have to wait until tommorow. For those of you wondering there are games from all the civs except for poseidon I think (maybe loki too). I started a new name to play random civ in rated with, KS_Random_Wales, I’ll use it from time to time, but with all the big tournaments starting I can’t make you any garuntees.

Sorry I haven’t really played any quality games in a while, so instead I posted one of the games I played while warming up for the Igames tournament in Regina, you can find the game in Oranos, a pretty good game I think and it put me up a few spots in the rankings that day.

Yesterday this site finally got it’s 1 millionth hit, I opened this particular version of the site on the 14th of March which means that I have also just hit my 7 month aniversary. Not half bad I think for a site that I never really expected to get more than 100 visitors in a given week hehe.

I made it to the number one spot today, if but briefly. I was ranked #1 after beating Heavens_Myst, then I went on to beat cG_Blur but the game didn’t upload properly so the points haven’t kicked in yet. Anyways I logged off after that and went to eat/watch a bit of TV. When my brother logged on an hour later I was down to #2 because matty had been playing apperently hehe. Oh well at least I can say I was there (even if half the world isn’t playing yet).
As for the games themselves, you’ll find a bunch of 1v1s vs. the top rated players including 3 vs. FM titans strats (2 of which were previously posted on MFO). As well you’ll find a few team games hidden in there. All the games thus far have been played with Oranos so enjoy.
Hmmm forgot to mention before, I’ve noticed in some of my team games, the recorded game starts from the view of one of my opponents, any reason why this is happening?

I won the western qualifier for the Igames tournament, the host in Regina was Matrix Gaming Center who have locations in Regina and Moose Jaw (a little plug for guys who ran this tourney for me never hurt anyone :D), they did a really good job and if any of them happen to look at my site I really appreciate the time you guys took to set this up and everything.
As for the recorded games…. I emailed them to myself so I’ll be able to post them all, although none are really that great hehe. I won’t however be posting them tonight as it’s been a long day (8 hour tournament, 2 hour drive each way plus time to get ready etc.). I will however promise to post all the rec games I have tommorow (monday today whatever it’s late :P).

I’m driving down to Regina today to play in one of the Igames online qualifiers, there’s something like 22 players registered and over half of them are from canada with half of those being from regina hehe, anyways wish me luck. Ufortunately I won’t be able to get the rec games more than likely, but I will certainly try. When I get home I’ll post the 8 or so games that I’ve played in the last couple of days.

I uploaded a bunch of games, all the ones I remembered to rename basically. As I stated before I didn’t realize they were using a new extension/place to save them to so ended up losing a bunch. Plus I forgot that my paom rec game utility doesn’t work on these ones at all hehe.
Anyways The games can all be found in Oranos, Zeus, and Thor, I’ve managed to take the #2/now#3 spot on the ladder using Oranos and he does seem quite powerful to me as I haven’t really lost a game with him in a while that I can think of. I know that The Titans was supposed to have a feature where you could easily put bookmarks in recorded games, but as of yet I haven’t figured out how to do this. If anyone knows how or if anyone can confirm that it is/isn’t a feature that actually got put in the titans I would appreciate knowing, thanks.

I wasn’t really thinking clearly this last weekend and didn’t realize that they had changed the extension for rec games in the expansion. As a result I lost a bunch of games because I looked for new recorded games in the savegame file where AoM is located… turns out they are writen to a different location nowhere near there now which had me a bit confused for a little bit.
Anyways on to the reason why you won’t see any rec games for another day or two. My current host has it set up so I can only upload certain file extensions, seeing as how AoT uses .rcx rather than .rec I have to get him to allow me to upload .rcx files to his server, sorry about this, hopefully I can get it resolved by tommorow afternoon.

I recieved the recorded games from my brother and will post all the ones that I played in except two which I failed to get, my second one vs. chris and my very last one vs. chris. I also have 2 recorded games of champ vs. chris but I’ll have to talk to them to see if they want them posted or not.
Anyways the tournament started out rather unorganized, this was mostly due to the fact that no one really knew how many AoM players there would be I think. While waiting to find out when and where we would play, myself and Chris ran into Reed Richards who claimed to be a 2150 set player…. this seemed a bit odd to us especially considering that we had never heard of the name he gave us and he had never heard of myself, champ or chris (very odd). So we figured the guy was lying to us, sure enough that proved true.
After a long while of waiting, the organizers decided that myself and Chris should play each other in a best of three series as qualifying matchs. This first game is probably a pretty good game however the level of play is probably a bit low due to the fact that it was our first real game out there and the set-up was quite different for me I know which made it difficult to concentrate fully. Game 1 vs Chris.
After that game finally finished (it was a long one) They moved us out into the main area of Playdium. That area was surrounded by arcade machines and kids yellling and screaming the whole time, it was very loud and made it a bit difficult to concentrate but after a bit I got used to it and the background sounds became non-existent. Myself and Chris played a second game where he defeated me (I never got that recording). After myself and chris played it was discovered that an 8 year old kid had also joined the tournament, so he ended up playing 1 game vs. Reed to see if he could qualify…. he lost rather badly from what I can tell and was out of the tournament. It was kind of funny seeing this 8 year old who had probably never really played more than a few games of AoM try to play in this tournament with his mom watching and cheering him on.
After that the organizer for AoM, a SC player who goes by the name of Fire decided that amongst the 5 remaining players (Myself, Night, Champ, Chris, and Reed) we would have a round robin to determine seed and the 5th player would be kicked out of the tournament. So we started in on the round robin, Night played Reed to start things off, and soundly whooped on him. I don’t remember the order of the games but, I Defeated Reed, as well Champ and Chris both beat Reed so he was out. Champ was defeated by Myself (I didn’t get this game apperently), Night and Chris giving him a 1-3 record. Night was defeated by Myself, and Chris, giving him a 2-2 record. We ended up using the first two games that myself and Chris played as the decider between us in the round robin so I ended up with a 3-1 record and Chris with a 4-0 record.
That ended the first day of playing, we spent most of the day playing and so basically just went back to our hotels and crashed when all was said and done.
Saturday we continued our playing right at the start of the day, it was set up so we would play in a double elimination best of three tournament. We were seeded according to our record on the first day, so 1. Chris played 4. Champ and 2. Myself played 3. Night. The maps were not picked for us, the first map was selected randomly from a hat, the second game was chosen by the loser of the first game, and the third game was chosen by the loser of the second game.
Champ defeated Chris in two straight games, I can’t remember which map the first game was on but Chris picked Medit for the second map and lost that one. I then played vs. Night, game 1 ended up being on Medit, game 2 Night picked alfheim and I chose Odin as my god.
After this Chris played Night and defeated him in two games, so it was down to me and Champ to play in the winners bracket. Game 1 was on alfheim, not a bad map for me but I still don’t know completely how to play it with set. I think this is the match I should have chosen thor for as I think I could play it better with a norse civ (or even greek) than I did with Set. Game 2 I chose Medit, I found that I was playing Medit in this tournament better than I’ve ever actually played it at home, I think it was a combination of the computer speed and increased monitor size that gave me that extra edge. Game 3 Champ chose Watering Hole (or is it savannah?) and whooped on me rather easily, I knew that savannah and watering hole were my worst maps because I really truly don’t have a clue what I’m doing on them hehe.
This put me in the losers bracket where I had to play vs. Chris, game 1 was on savannah, Chris got an early edge and never let up on me. Game 2 I again chose Medit after having lost the first game, and the results were as I expected them to be. Game 3 Chris chose Alfheim. I made a rather huge mistake by forgetting to build my apes early on and it cost me an awful lot :(, in fact it cost me so much that I think I could have won the game if not for that one massive mistake for which I will kick myself for a long time I’m sure. Unfortunately I never got the recorded game as the disk that Night had given me (thanks a lot btw Night) ran out of room and he was nowhere to be found, after that there wasn’t much chance that I was going to get back on those computers as they started playing the Starcraft finals on those computers.
This left Chris and Champ in the finals, in order to win the whole thing Chris would need to win 4 games while champ would have to win only 2 in a series. As it turns out Chris had better concentration at this point and actually managed to win 4 out of 5 games, they were all close games and some of them really surprised me, if they have the recorded games it would be nice if they posted them, but I don’t think either of them are likely to do that at this point :).
Other than playing the games the two days almost all of the time, myself and chris spent most of friday at the playdium waiting to find out when and where we would play our matchs.. turns out it was a complete waste of the day, but we were told not to leave in case we had to play that night. Other than that there really wasn’t a lot of spare time between playing our matchs (we had 2 computers to use the whole weekend basically and were told to finish asap) and so didn’t end up doing a whole lot of stuff in and around toronto/mississagua.
Anyways it was nice meeting champ, night and chris, they were all really great guys, and to be honest I can’t see how Champ has managed to get a bad reputation around the AoM community as he’s a pretty good guy in real life. I wish both Champ and Chris the best of luck in Korea and hope they can win the Nations cup (I think they have a good shot to be honest) for Canada.
I’ll try to post some recorded games of AoT later tonight but can’t promise anything as it’s my brothers birthday.

Well I was planning on posting all the games and telling the story behind it all, but as it turns out I forgot my floppy drive doesn’t work anymore so I’ll have to get someone to email me the games after I put them on their computer, sorry about that.
Anyways the long and the short of it is this I played set…. sorry but when you are spending a lot of money to go to a tournament with only 2 prizes you really have to play to win, and at the moment not playing with set is too much of a handicap IMO. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as I hadn’t perfected my set play as well as either Chris or Champ who are the canadian champions (in that order). If I were to say that I’m not greatly disapointed to not be going to Korea I would be lying to you and to myself, unfortunately I made a few too many mistakes and didn’t know my civ well enough to compete at the level needed to win. When I do manage to get the games uploaded I’ll do a full posting on them right here (will just edit it), for now you’ll just have to make due with a few pictures that I took. Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures with all 5 of the competitors at the event together, but I did get a picture of everyone once.

As some of you might know there has been someone else posting on this site under my name. I discovered who the person was and had a private chat with them. As their intentions weren’t malicious in any way I decided not to ban them or anything else at this time. However let this be a warning to all of you, if you post on MY site using MY name you can expect that I will take actions to either ban you from the site, or if I choose not to do that I may simply ban you from making posts on my site. Even if it is only meant to be a joke you have to realize that a lot of people from countries outside of america also visit this site. I didn’t do quite as well as I would have hoped after beating some tough competition, but I did manage to finish up in 4th place after beating L_Clan_Bragi in the quarter finals, then losing to both L_Clan_GP(Who went on to win the tourney, congrats), and s3xspert who came in 3rd. L_Clan_Shmecker came in 2nd place losing out only to GP. Again you can find the games here, if people are interested I will also post my games where I lost out and didn’t have to post so you can see the games from both sides of view (for those who like that). let me know if you want them otherwise I won’t bother.

Which would be why you aren’t seeing any games posted :). Anyways I’m in the final 8 now, in my first 2 rounds I had byes due to my opps not showing up (no one that great anyways that I know of) 3rd round I was vs. Olympus_addict a 2094 player on Nile river. the next round I was vs. UD_Dean a 2000 player on sudden death. and in round 5 I played L_Clan_Capoch in a best of 3 series which I won in the third game. You can find all the games here look under round 3 4 and 5, all the games were posted under the name ME_Count_Rahl which is the name I used for the tournament due to the fact that it was the highest rated name I had at time of entry. Anyways I’m pretty happy to have made it this far while facing some very stiff competition, tommorow I play L_Clan_Bragi for the quarter finals and after that who knows :).

Both with thor, one was a 1v1 in rated vs. a 1980 set smurf, the other a 2v2 with some 1900 norse players, both decent games. Yet again my rating has moved a step higher which I’m pretty happy about, down with the set whores!!!! I did play a few other games the other day but accidentally deleted them :(. None were particularly great so it’s no worries :).

Most of them being Lightning matchs unfortunately. They are all from about 2 weeks ago, these are just the games I played in the couple of days before the unknown tournament finals but didn’t bother to upload at the time. Anyways you can find new games under Thor, Hades, Ra, Isis, Set, and Zeus.
Other than that I spent some time cleaning up my home page, I hope that the load times will be cut down somewhat as I moved a lot of the older postings to my “Old News” link under archives. Other than that you’ll notice that the title in each of the posts also has the page that it is found under. I did this because I find for myself the easiest way to find all my new games is to click on the calander days at the top right hand of the page. The problem with this was that by doing so you could never tell what civ I was playing in until you watched the game. So now you’ll be able to tell a bit easier what civ it is that I’m using in each game. Minor thing I know but just thought I would explain it.
I would also like to personally thank Vengence for commenting on so many of the games and postings that I make. It certainly makes the site a lot more interesting for me to keep track of, and probably makes things more interesting for everyone else who views the page. So again thank you, Vengence, you’ve made this site a whole lot more fun to do, keep posting :).

Anyways I played 2 games yesterday and would have uploaded them, but my internet connection crapped out due to the power company. I uploaded the one game that I’ve played in this past week. I also have some old games that I hope to upload tommorow. Other than that I moved all the tournament games to their proper places (thor, loki, zeus, and ra), and made a couple of small comments on them.
I’ve been playing Yohoho Puzzle pirates the last week or so, it’s a pretty entertaining game even in beta stages. If any of you guys happen to be playing it let me know and maybe we can hook up some time.

All under Thor. I’m feeling pretty good about my game right now, I’m riding a 7 game win streak with only the odd loss in between my wins, so things are going fairly well right now. I’m close to 2000 again even with having to play set whores on the way up, which is good :). Anyways just thought I’d share that with you, enjoy.

I’ve finally caught up on all my recorded games to date. You’ll find some new (and not so new) games under Isis, Loki, Thor, Odin, Zeus, Hades, and poseidon. The one zeus game that got posted is a lightning game which I have recently started to play. If anyone out there is ever looking for a lightning game just give me a whisper and if I’m free I’d be glad to play you.
From now on I’ll be using the PAoM Recorded games manager so all my games will start with the name KS_JW at the start of them. At this point there is no way to put the civs in to the name, nor the amount of players playing, however this program makes things so much easier and hassle free for me. The best part is that I won’t forget to rename a single game again so you won’t be missing out on any game unless it’s A)a game that goes out of sync without really getting anywhere B) same as A only someone drops instead, or C) a tournament game which will be uploaded to another site.
I’ve recently been accused of selectively posting recorded games on my site. Well while I won’t be able to convince the people who make these claims I can say this. I’ve played approximately 1200-1300 games (a lot I know, I was off work for 4 months what can I say :D), at the same time I’ve posted somewhere around 800 games (a lot again). I didn’t start my recorded games site until the end of last year which would explain quite a few of those un-posted games, as well I play a lot of team games, and if a player drops I very often don’t bother posting the game due to the fact that it’s not really a complete game, however those games do get added to my statistics. Throw in another 80 or so games where I was actually smurfing which I failed to tell you all about :) and I think you will come pretty darn close to the amount of games I’ve played. Now granted I have missed some legitimate games due to the fact that I am human and sometimes forget to re-name my recorded games before they get erased (2 other ppl use my computer to play AoM so this can happen quite easily), but overall I think I’ve been fairly accurate with my initial promise to post all of my games, which is what I said I would do from the very beginning. To those who don’t believe or don’t want to believe what I say here…. well oh well you don’t like me, so be it I’ll just keep on doing what I’m doing and if you don’t like the way in which I do it then by all means go ahead and flame me wherever and however you want.
On a small side note I recently ran into someone using the name KS_Losey_Wales on ESO… which obviously isn’t me due to the fact that I ran in to him, he was acting rather immature in the chat room, so if you think you see me doing stupid stuff in the chat rooms then make sure it’s a J not an L in the name :).

As promised, a little bit late but at least they are there. Tommorow I will be posting some more, I just didn’t want to go through all the games I had saved up. Anyways in the last week I decided to give Poseidon a whirl in rated. I had a bit of success with this but not a great deal. So after that I tried out Hades and actually did fairly well to a point. I was actually thinking of going with Hades in my tournament game which as it turns out would have been a huge huge mistake (isis or odin were my only chances with the map). After I decided Hades wasn’t such a hot idea for a big tournament game I switched over to Isis for a handful of games and managed to get my ME_Count_Rahl name up to 1985 vs. some set whores. So there you have it, there are new games under Hades, Poseidon, and Isis. I hope you enjoy them and you can expect to see more tommorow, or today as it were seeing as how it’s past 1 AM now.

Just thought I’d post this one game while I have a spare minute, I think it’s a pretty good game but it is a little bit on the long side. I also made some minor changes one to the comments pages which most of you won’t notice anyways, I also made the images along the side smaller because I finally had the time and inclination to do so :). As a result hopefully things will load up a bit faster than they have been of late.

Finally got some more games uploaded, the last couple of days I’ve been sick with some sort of stomache flu and therefore didn’t really feel like doing anything at all. Anyways I played a lot of Isis games over the last week or so, as well there are a couple of games under Zeus.
Nothing really big in the way of news to report, but just a minor note to one of the people I train, so if you aren’t one of those people you can stop reading now :). I posted a few new games, I only played about 7 this week in total unfortunately. You can find most of the games under Zeus, with one being posted under Odin. The good news is that a person at work is coming back after being gone on stress leave for over 2 months, which means I will be getting closer to a regular amount of hours for me. This means that I’ll be able to work on this site, articles, and most importantly play some games…. yay!!!
Anyways I’m going away for the weekend so don’t expect another post until teusday at the earliest.

As you can probably tell I haven’t felt like working on my site at all lately. The benefits at this point don’t always outweigh the time consumption that this site can take. I will continue to maintain this site for the time being, but no big new articles are on the way (for now I’ve even halted the Zeus FM article). I just don’t have enough free time for this and other things that I want to do (including playing AOM). Some of you have asked if I’m getting bored of AoM and I must say that I’m not really getting bored of it, it’s just that I’m not spending all of my gaming time on it anymore. AoM is a great game which I still enjoy playing quite a bit(and for those of you wondering yes I think it’s better than RoN), it’s just that I’m having fun doing some other things at the moment so don’t really have as much time to play the game as I used to. As it is I never even played any games from the time I made my last post until last thursday or friday I think it was. Anyways on to the more cheery news :).
This past Saturday I defeated Pg_Godasu_ in the champion of the Unknown tournament, this puts me in the final 6, which also happens to be the semi finals. I’m quite pleased to have made it this far, but there’s no stopping now, I must make it to the final 6. This brings me to something that I find rather disturbing. Of the two major money tournaments held for AoM so far (excluding the L_Clan tournament because it was 1 day and some ppl like me couldn’t make it) only two players have appered (or have a chance to appear) in the final 6 both times. Those players are myself (cha ching $$$$$), and L_Clan_Chris. Where am I going with this? Well as many of you might know both of us are Canadians. What might interest some of you is that at this point there are NO sponsors for any Canadian players to go to the World Cyber Games in Korea this year. That means that no Canadians are likely to make it there for the games (unless someone sponsors Chris or he pays his own way). Now this seems rather silly to me as obviously we are both good enough to compete at thos games, and I think Chris would likely walk away winning the whole thing. But what can I do about it really :(. Enough of the rant, now my pitch :). If anyone knows of anyone that might want to sponsor a couple of Canadian players to go to the WCG I’m all ears. I don’t have my hopes up high, but a guy can dream can’t he?
As to the games I posted today, you’ll find most of them posted in either Zeus or Thor, with a couple in Hades, Poseidon, Odin, Isis, and Set. There are several very good team games I think, and a few good 1v1’s. As well there are about 4 games that include me that were recently posted at MFO which I will not be re-posting here. Haven’t played much AoM in the past week so there are only about 7 new games posted, you’ll find some in Hades, Odin, Zeus, Isis, and Set. The Zeus one is another Fast Mythic game in a 1v1 situation, of course it doesn’t hurt that my opponent decided to go heroic :).
I’ve started to play RoN in the last day and a bit, so if anyone would like I could start posting recorded games of that. If there is no interest then I won’t bother, but if a few of you do want some games posted I’ll start doing that by next week due to the fact that I’m still a bit of a noob at the game hehe. So if you want some recorded games just post in the comments that you would like to see some.
Other than that not much to report, I haven’t had time to finish off the zeus fast mythic guide, but I think most of you have figured out what it’s all about by now anyways hehe :).

I just haven’t felt like doing a whole lot this last week, and so I didn’t. Anyways I’ve posted a lot of new recorded games in all sections I believe. The reason for this being that I’ve reverted back to using random civ in rated/non-rated. I noticed a few of you wanted my impressions of the patch. Overall I think ES did a pretty good job on this one, but there were a few small mistakes they omitted. For starters I still think that Sets Apes are still too powerful for their cost/pop. They either need to be taken up to 4 favour (very feasible) or cost 2 pop (a little more drastic). As well I think that cutting down the apes attack vs. buildings by 1/2 just isn’t enough. I think they should have instead taken down all of sets converted/summoned animals attack down to 1 in archaic (or even 0 :D). I think this would fix a few things at once. For starters it would make it so that other players could actually get extra docks down on anatolia. As well this would make it so that any of the civs could stop the starting priest from converting a tonne of animals early on unabused. Other than that I liked the change to the jarls, they were definitely overpowered for Odin, but perhaps taking down their base hp by 5% wouldn’t hurt as well. Next up the huskarls which I think people will also find to be a lot more effective at everything than they are really meant to be. The only other major ommision is the lack of changes to raiding cavalry. In classical I still feel they are too powerful vs. greeks in general.
That’s about it for now, I hope (seriously) to get my zeus fast mythic guide up by tommorow, but I will make no promises because I don’t want to miss out on anything the first time around. Anyways enjoy the recordings.

I’ve been a bit busy, yesterday I was waiting most of the day to get my round 6 match in vs. vg_messiah, which I won :D. Anyways I added a few new games, mostly in Thor, but you will also find some in zeus, hades, and odin. I managed to get my rating up to something respectable again while waiting for my tournament game yesterday so am almost at 2k again despite running into almost 100% Set players. Anyways I’ll be adding more games tommorow when I get time.

I added a Spotlight section where all the best games I play will be posted. At some point if I get time I’ll do a small comentary on each game, but at the moment I just don’t have the time for it. I also added a few new recorded games, 2 in the zeus section and 3 in the Set section. For those of you wondering I started to use my ME_Count_Rahl name over the past few days. With it I decided to Set whore a little bit. Why? Well I was having troubles winning games vs. most set players and just had to prove to myself that it is just the civ beating me and not the fact that my opponents were better players. Anyways unfortunately I don’t have time to finish any of the articles I’m working on at the moment, but you can expect another one or two by the end of next week at the latest.

I managed to finish only 1 article, just a map guide for Savannah. Other than that I didn’t update the site as much as I had hoped to, but I have tommorow off as well so hopefully I’ll get some time to do a bit of that then. I also updated my profile section, not sure if it’s exactly what people want to see out of my profile, and it may bore some of you, but then again some of you may find it interesting.
I’ve also added a lot of new recorded games there are new recordings in all the civs excluding Loki. The majority of the recordings are in the Thor and Hades sections. The new recorded games will show up as being posted on two different days since I did my updating over midnight, might cause a bit of confusion if you stop looking at the end of the first date breaker even though there are more new games posted below that.

I uploaded 10 new games that I played over the past week. You’ll find new games under Hades, Zeus, Loki, Thor, and Isis. I tried KS_Generals Zeus Fast Mythic a few more times and had decent success with it (despite it really being geared towards 3v3 and up games). Other than that nothing too spectacular to watch. Hope you guys enjoy the games, I’ll post some more for sure tommorow.

Well I posted those three games that I promised to post the other day, things just got bussier than I expected the last two nights. Anyways the ones I think you should check out the most are one of my zeus games where I pull off a fast mythic. I actually did this twice but apperently forgot to change the game name, since my brother has played plenty of games since then the other one has been erased :(. As well you should check out a 3v3 where KS_General does the same thing, it’s his strategy start to finish, so check it out in the Ra section. I think the strategy is very viable in 1900– team games just so long as you don’t do it every time (and become predictable :) ). Anyways hope you enjoy the games, tommorow I’ll try to fill in my profile.

I switched the layout back to the old style… I’m not entirely sure why IE is interpreting my code so differently from that of mozilla, but it’s pretty annoying (as I don’t think I have it really writen wrong). As for the comments my brother is looking into it, not sure exactly how I messed it up but apperently I did :). I’ve changed the layout a bit on the site (if you hadn’t noticed), let me know what you think about it all. I’ve also added a couple of new sections, a profile page for myself which I just don’t have the time to do all the way right now. As well I’ve added a Q and A section to replace my emails section. The emails section just takes too much time and work, this new system just makes more sense to me. Also a big thank you goes out to 12aven who sent me a few new cool looking banners for my site, thanks mate they all looked good I just thought this one fit my site the best. Using my small skills with graphics programs I did a little bit of remodelling to the site, nothing major just some graphics for each of the gods. Let me know what you think, I know that the Loki one needs changing, and the Isis one really sucks pretty bad, but other than that I thought I did a half decent job considering my lack of good programs etc. No new games played today, just been a bit too busy lately to really play except on saturday. You’ll find some new games in Set, Poseidon and Hades, Thor and Odin most of the games are in Poseidon, I played several set players today and got extremly frustrated, they are so hard to fight against unless you outplay them by a lot.

I’ve added new games to the Odin, Zeus, Ra and Isis sections, most of the games are under Odin.
Aside from that normal type of stuff I recently won the PAoM Pledge your allegiance tourament hosted by…. you guessed it Planetageofmythology.com. It was a lot of fun and you can find all the recorded games that I played on their site at PAoM Tournament Brackets, just click on the little explosion type things inbetween the player names. As well I played another tournament game for the MFO tournament which can be found at the MFO recorded games database. I won’t be reposting any of these games on my own site due to the fact that I think they really should be on the sites that host the tournaments and not my site. I mean their work has to be for something right?
Anyways other than that I just have one thing I’d like you all to do, if you are a regular visitor to this site I’d just like you to respond in the comments below this posting, all I want you to do is post your ESO name, if you don’t want to do that you can email me your name, whatever works for you, I’m just interested in who all visits this site, and how many regulars I actually have.
And in other news I also plan on updating the site more often, every other day or so, even if it’s just to tell you where I’m at with articles and if I have any recorded games to be posted in the near future. I’m also trying to get on Ensemblestudios AoM fansites link list, but haven’t gotten any response from archangel about this yet unfortunately, if anyone knows who I could contact other than him (and how) could you please E Mail me with the info? Maybe my site isn’t the type of site they want on their links list, but if it isn’t at least an answer would be preferable to not knowing if they have even seen my site.
And still in other news I’ve got this saturday off so I plan on hopefully typing out a map guide I have written on paper and also finishing up another guide that I’m most of the way through. Thanks to everyone who has recently sent me emails thanking me for my site, it makes it worthwhile to know that people are getting something out of my efforts to help the AoM community. Hmmm anything else to add? Oh yeah I’m planning on doing some remodeling on the site, layout etc. if you have any suggestions please let me know. I’ve also recieved a coulple of new name banners for my site recently, if anyone else would like to make any I’d like to see them, maybe I’ll use a few of them on different pages throughout my site (If I can figure out how to without too much hassle hehe). I haven’t had a lot of spare time to play many games really in the last week so that’s the reason for the lack of updates. On the bright side I’ve had some time recently to write up some strategy articles on paper, so when I get some free time I’ll be able to put up hopefully a couple of new map guides and a civ guide plus one other article. Anyways I added some new games today, you’ll find new games under set, odin, thor, poseidon, and zeus. One of the Poseidon games is really worth a watch (the one vs. geek) for a good example of how map control can dictate a game. None of them are worthy of my spotlight stamp this week though :D. I’m going to make a page specifically for spotlights so you will be able to just click on that link and find links to all my spotlighted games, so therefore I won’t be just picking 1 game from each batch to spotlight, it’s really got to be worth it to make it on the list I think.
Other than that I’m working on some new colour/image schemes for each of the gods, but it’s going rather slowly due to a lack of time lately. I’ve also added in a search function, so you can search for games I’ve played vs. a specific player or games I’ve played vs. a specific civ or whatever. Warning though if you do search with a civ name it may take a little while due to the fact it will have to load up all the posts involving that civs name.

Home archives: Plenty of new games, and some thoughts on the patch…

You’ll find a lot of new games under each of the god’s except no new games under Ra or Isis. Sorry for the delay in posting, the last couple of days were a little bit busy for me. Anyways since I haven’t expressed them elsewhere, and since this is my own site I’ll give my thoughts on the latest patch. Overall the changes are pretty good, but I think they missed some major problems. The throwing axemen change was likely the largest change they made, and I think they overdid it. As it is now TA’s do something like 7.75 damage per shot to spears/ulfs/axemen/hyps, that’s what I read somewhere anyways. This just seems to small to be worthwhile, spearmen now do more damage vs. them than they do vs. spearmen by a couple, plus spearmen get better hack armour. Ulfsarks are actually a better counter to infantry than TA’s are at the moment due to the fact they have more armour (if I remember correctly) and do more damage. Sure the TA’s are ranged, but TA’s are also easier to counter than ulfsarks are in general. Other than that I think the changes were all for the best but here are some things I really think they need to consider for the next patch. First off they need to address the greek issue on water, it’s fairly obvious to anyone who has played both greeks and norse on water that they are badly underpowered in comparison to all the norse gods. As well they need to do something to Sets animals, there is a great number of things they could do such as lowering the animals attack to 0-2 in archaic (yes 0, no one else can be offensive in archaic why should set be able to?), they could also give both hero’s and villagers a nice bonus against the animals. Another thing they could do is put a delay between the converting of animals, a cooldown time of 10-20 seconds or something for priests, this would slow them down but not so much that it would make them useless.

I finally finished the article I had mentioned several times in the past couple of weeks. The article is about scouting and turned out to be a lot longer than I had anticipated. I hope that it’s of some use to someone out there, I hate to think I wasted that much time :D. I also added 4 new games, 3 under Set (yes I’m lame sometimes too) and 1 under Hades.
I will start to spotlight games that I feel are worthy of it, however I don’t feel any of the games I posted today happen to be of that calibre so instead I’ll put up a spotlight of a game I posted a couple of days ago.

I decided to give Hades another go for a few games the last couple of days, I search and search for games on my Josey Wales name but can’t seem to get one going, so as A result I used a name I’ve had for a while. I managed to get the name to 2k which I’m fairly proud of especially since I had to play 2 loki’s on anatolia to pull it off. Anways there are 4 new games all under Hades. As well I added Links to the KS Clan forum, and the StorM clan website. I also put my centaur strangle article up on my site with links to some newer recorded games as I had been informed my old ones were rather weak due to being a bit old. Other than that I should get up my newest game clinic later today and I’ve also started work on one of the article ideas I had going which hopefully won’t take too long to finish up.

I haven’t really been playing much lately, been in to Dark Cloud 2 for the PS2, really fun game. Anyways I haven’t really had a lot of spare time lately but have a couple of ideas for new articles that I will hopefully find time for at some point. I posted a few new games, some under Odin and one under Ra, the Ra one is probably the best of the lot, StorM_Eh is my hero that’s all I can say hehe. Anyways I added a link to RCF Diamonds Isis game site since my isis recordings all pretty much suck pretty hardcore. Also I’ve had some questions lately about training so I’ve made a page specifically for that to let people know what my stance is. As well there will likely be a couple of new pages listing the rules I have on posting and such. I don’t have any new emails to answer so none will be posted :). I’m also thinking on working on a little profile page for myself so you can know a little bit more about me if you are really bored at some point. Other than all that stuff I’m working on a game clinic at the moment and hope to have it up in the next day or two, time permitting.

Woohoo I made the top 20 for the first time in a while. I think I’m ranked 17 or something like that on my KS_Josey_Wales name. I decided to use my Josey_Wales when I want to pick my god, and keep my storm name for random god selection. Anyways I added some new recorded games, mostly Odin games. I added a new strategy on the side it’s a Hades FH which is meant to be used specifically against Poseidon players but in theory could work vs. some other civs as well. So any of you Hades players (as few of you as there are) might want to check that out. As well I posted 5 new games, I’ve been kinda sick today and yesterday and so haven’t played much at all. Anyways as luck would have it I managed to get Odin 4 times in a row in rated (wow lucky me) and won them all, as well there is one Isis game which I actually managed to win yay!! With those 5 games I managed to pull my rating up to 2035 which is good enough for 26th place in the rankings, not bad I figure :D. Anyways I’ve been working on a big game clinic for the past couple of days and it is nearing completion but not for another day or two I’d say. I’ll also post up some of the emails I’ve recieved recently at that time, anyways hope you all enjoy the games and the strategy article. New games have been added to all the sections except Isis and Hades, there’s a couple of good zeus records for you zeus fans out there :). As well several good Ra games if you happen to like him (not many of you I know), including a couple with FH’s involved if I remember right.
Today I hit an all time high for rating at 2018, I think I was actually this high once before when I hit the top 20 momentarily, but never this high playing random god, I then lost a game (the 1:20 one under zeus) and dropped well below 2000 but have since climbed my way up (yay). As well I was interviewed recently by E-AoM a spanish AOM website, it’s now been posted here.
I’d like to take a minute to adress an issue that has come up a decent amount lately. Getting paid for training etc. A lot of you are really against this however I’m of the stance that if someone is willing to pay me to help them get better in some way, I’d have to be a fool not to take up the opportunity since it’s something I enjoy doing. At the same time that doesn’t mean I won’t continue to do what I’ve been doing here. The truth of the matter is that actual training takes a fair amount of time, which I could probably spend doing something I enjoy more, so in reality it’s just not worth it to train people for nothing. I know a lot of you are not going to be happy seeing this on my page, but realistically I’m not a well off person and could really use any extra money I can make. So in you can still send me your recorded games and hope for the luck of the draw on the game clinic and I’ll still continue doing them once a week for free, but if you really want me to do a game clinic and are willing to pay for it, then send me an email and I’ll likely do an extra one for a fee, simple as that.
As well my brother suggested this next part which is pretty simple. If you appreciate what I’m doing here then feel free to drop a tip in my Tip Jar :D I’d really appreciate it as I do spend a lot of time on this stuff, if this offends you in any way that I’m doing this well, I’m sorry but money really does make the world go round.

I added the game clinic I was working on to the clinics section, also added 2 games, one under Odin vs. Enigma and one under loki vs. ageofmonkies, he posted his view on MFO this is my view by request of steveo. Not much else to report, I just didn’t have the time to play at all the last couple of days it seems like.

I added new games to each of the God’s except for Zeus, set got a lot of play time with 4 games and the rest have 1 or 2 a piece. I was interviewed by PAoM the other day and they said the interview should be posted in about 2 weeks. I’m currently working on a couple of strategy articles, nothing major really just some minor civ specific strategies, as well I’m working on another Recorded game analysis which I’ll hopefully have up by tonight or tommorow. I also added an email to the emails section, some good questions mostly about norse and Myth units. Thanks for all the possitive comments guys, much appreciated. I’d also like to ask a favour from any of you who play Isis. This civ really seems to be giving me the most troubles (to play as), I just haven’t got a l clue what I’m doing it seems like. So if any of you watch my Isis games any suggestions/tips would be gladly appreciated.
On a side not I think I’ve got something messed up with my php because it seems you have to refresh to see the new additions… it must be something I’ve done wrong, I’ll try to get my brother to help me and figure out why it is, and how I can fix it.

As promised due to the easier format for updating my site I’ve added all my recordings from the day (boy I played a lot). There are surprisingly enough new games in each of the gods, so a little bit of something for everybody. Nothing else of importance to report really, neither of my interviews happened today due to some small problems. I was 1995 today playing random which I’m pretty proud of, but never quite reached that elusive 2000 mark (despite the fact I beat the #2 ranked guy, darn smurfs). One game I thought I would mention is to be found in Zeus, the 2v2 with goofy, harp and jerry seinfeld, I really think that game was the best execution I’ve ever had while performing the centaur strangle, everything just seemed to go right. Anyways hope you all enjoy, and thanks for all the feedback.

Well I’ve done it again, I’m now being hosted by my brother (thanks a bunch) and he’s set me up with the same type of thing he uses which is blog. As you can see everything looks a whole lot better and I’m still working on it to some extent. My favorite new feature is the comment system that is now in place, so you guys can comment on any of the games or postings I put up directly on the site, should be really handy. I am not going to require a login for you to comment but I do have the following rules which I hope you will abide by. First off keep the language within reason, there’s no need to swear here please, also since there is no login required please use only your own name to make posts. If I find that someone is posting under someone elses name to make them look bad I really won’t be happy and we’ll see what I do when the time comes (I can check IP’s by the way). As well as that great new feature I now no longer have to zip up my recorded games (yay) and posting is going to be much much easier, so you’ll likely see me update the site with new recorded games on a more frequent basis than before.
On to the gaming. I’ve been playing random in rated for the past week without cheating and picking a civ once. So therefore there are new recorded games under each of the civs excluding Odin surprisingly enough. Due to the fact I was redoing the layout of my site somewhat I have been unable to do a game clinic this week, but hope to find some time this weekend. As well I’ve been asked to do an interview with PAoM, as well as a spanish gaming site which should be neat. Hope you guys enjoy the games and the new features, let me know what you think.
