Here’s a good example of how playing random civ to get your experience with all the civs really sets you back. It’s a pretty sad game on my part as I really don’t do a whole lot to him and fall into the same problems I do every time I play egypt, not enough buildings.

There’s a nice little villager war at the start of this one, followed by him going for a Titan which never seems to work against me when I’m Isis.

A pretty decent game, just goes to show how unimportant water can be sometimes. The real key to this one though was having his army on one side fighting off my tc grab attempt while another full army came at him from his front side to take out his second tc.

I go for a fast priest rush which works fairly well. The only thing that really causes me problems here is that we both have two gold mines in our starting base, but other than that a fairly succesful try.

This is how the priest rush is supposed to work for the most part. I did let him get away with a few too many things at some points but in the end it didn’t matter.

A pretty short game. Flank went a bit too far forward so he could take advantage of a double resource (wood and gold together). This left him pretty wide open to a decent Isis rush.

I was planning on priest rushing him to some extent, unfortunately it turned out that he had waaaay too good of gold within his base, so I decided against that. Unforunately I don’t know FH strats as Isis because I don’t really try it too often, oh well hehe.

After briefly winning water I decide to abanndon it when he makes a comeback, and instead boom away on land. Controlling that top tc became pretty important in keeping his army small enough to deal with I think.

I decided to fool around with an awful lot of priests in this one, they actually manage to do the trick not too bad.

Sending all those units in to his forward tc one by one really cost him a lot of units for nothing that tc was going down, time to regroup and launch some raids elsewhere while my army is busy.

We get into some pretty good fights here, and the game drags on a bit longer than it probably could have, but a good game nonetheless.

The odd DM game can sure be fun, I think poor alexander just forgot to click mythic age for so long that he really didn’t have much chance.

Those axemen down by his dock that decided to just stand around for a very long time really threw me off in this one, I couldn’t figure out why I had no pop, guess I gotta look at the mini map a bit more :).

Grrrrrr inexperience really got the better of me here. I wasn’t thinking the gold mines are so incredibly important, but of course they are since trade is so limited and so weak in comparison to gold mining.

Another fun team game here, lots of teamwork involved with the game turning into 2.5 vs. 2.5 as each team basically has one partner wiped out. I could have likely saved fuzzy from his certain death, but I felt killing off Shock was a more effective route to victory. I’m still not sure if I was right in this decision but there’s no way of going back to tell.

x2_km surprised us all a little bit for fighting on water for as long as he did, if all his partners had done likewise we might have actually lost water due to starting in on land pretty hard after thinking water was ours already. Gotta love those crocs in heroic age.

Yet another silly use of serpents, he could have easily covered two docks with them, but instead chose to cover only the top half of one. This is the game that prompted this post. I nearly fell off my chair when he resigned because I had no clue that I had “won” the game.

It’s a real shame he dropped here, was turning out to be a pretty good game I think. Worth a watch but I’m not sure if I had a chance in this one or not.

The gold was pretty much screwed up on this one, however he did have 1 gold pile near his base and that should have been enough to have lasted somewhat longer I’m sure, but he lost too much by wasting his flaming weapons how he did.

I should have really had this game I think, I just let the gold slip through my fingers, after that it was all over because of the slim ridges running around my base I couldn’t really get a good trade route up even if I tried.

He made a nice mistake in going for my tc first…. then he got a tonne of upgrades instead of building units, so basically I just stomped on his upgraded ass.

I go for the fast heroic with a meagre defense of priests and my pharoah. It works but I made a few mistakes, I think I really should have built a few anubites just to distract his home economy in early classical, oh well :D.

Those free animals cause me some troubles early on, luckily Isis gets a good combo for Ancestors and that gains me enough of an advantage to make a game of it.

Really close and intense game. I almost cost us the game early by not remembering correctly where that darn Aurochs was (hence the mostly built mill in the middle of nowhere). I manage to come back from it though (rather slowly) and things take off from there. Worth a watch for sure.
